A joyful beginning and a strong foundation
Kindergarten at ISOP is where curiosity takes root and learning begins with joy. Designed for children aged 4 to 6 (K1, K2, and P0), our Early Years Programme is the foundation of the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and reflects what the IB believes about early childhood: that learning is play-based, inquiry-driven, and deeply connected to the world around us.
This is a special time in a child’s life, a time to discover who they are, how to relate to others, and how to explore big ideas with small hands and curious minds.
Learning Through Play, Wonder, and Belonging
At ISOP, we believe that play is serious learning. It’s how children make sense of their world, test ideas, develop empathy, and build confidence. Our Kindergarten classrooms are full of movement, imagination, laughter, and exploration because this is where learning begins.
Every day, children engage in meaningful activities that nurture self-awareness, cooperation, problem-solving, and communication. Through stories, nature walks, building projects, role play, and hands-on inquiry, students begin to connect their ideas with others and with the world around them.
The Role of the Environment and Relationships
Our Kindergarten classrooms are warm, welcoming, and designed with intention. Each room is co-led by a Homeroom Teacher and a Co-Teacher, providing consistent emotional and academic support. Together, they create an environment that feels safe, responsive, and engaging where every child is seen, heard, and celebrated.
Children are encouraged to express themselves, care for one another, and develop a sense of belonging. Social and emotional development is woven into daily routines, helping young learners navigate friendships, feelings, and new experiences with confidence.
SHARING THE PLANET
WHO WE ARE
WHERE WE ARE IN PLACE AND TIME
HOW WE EXPRESS OURSELVES
HOW THE WORLD WORKS
HOW WE ORGANIZE OURSELVES
The PYP Framework in the Early Years
Aligned with the IB’s Early Years framework, our Kindergarten programme focuses on agency, play, relationships, and learning through exploration. Learning is guided by six transdisciplinary themes that help children make connections across subjects and life experiences.
Whether it’s counting leaves, building block cities, acting out stories, or exploring water flow, every experience is part of a bigger journey: helping children become curious thinkers, caring classmates, and capable communicators.
PYP 0: The Bridge Year
At age 6, students enter PYP 0, ISOP’s equivalent of Zerówka. This is a special transitional year that bridges kindergarten with primary school, preparing children for the next steps in the PYP. Students continue to learn through play and exploration, while also beginning to engage in more intentional skill-building in early literacy, numeracy, and collaboration.
Our Kindergarten Teachers
At ISOP, our Kindergarten teachers are more than educators. They are guides, nurturers, and collaborators in each child’s early learning journey. Every Kindergarten classroom is led by a Homeroom Teacher and a Co-Teacher, ensuring that each child receives individual attention, emotional support, and encouragement throughout the day.
Our educators are trained in the IB PYP and bring deep experience in early years education. They know how to ask the right questions, spark curiosity, and support emerging skills all while respecting each child’s unique pace and personality. By observing, listening, and responding with care, they help build the confidence and independence young learners need to thrive.

The Role of Parents
At ISOP, we see education as a partnership between school and home and in Kindergarten, this relationship is especially important. Parents are a child’s first teachers, and their involvement enriches everything we do.
We invite families to be active participants in the Kindergarten experience. Whether through informal conversations, classroom visits, or student-led celebrations of learning, parents are regularly engaged in their child’s growth and progress. Together, we create a consistent and supportive environment that allows every child to feel safe, valued, and encouraged – both at school and at home.
Learning, Observation & Documentation
In the early years, assessment is about understanding the whole child, their interests, development, strengths, and needs. Our teachers use observation, reflection, and documentation to track student growth and guide next steps in learning.
Student learning is made visible through photos, portfolios, learning stories, and displays that reflect the richness of daily experiences. These artifacts are shared with families to celebrate progress and deepen the connection between home and school. We focus on progress, not perfection and nurturing a love for learning that is joyful, meaningful, and lasting.

PYP LEADERSHIP TEAM
ANETA ZBUCKA

“I am happy that my career has led me to a point where I can combine my interest in education, leadership and different cultures. I believe in education that puts children at the centre of their learning and fosters positive values and attitudes. I am privileged to see our students on daily basis – the walking evidence that our work here at ISOP does pay off.”
MAŁGORZATA PYDA
PYP Coordinator
“I am passionate about the holistic nature of the program and feel proud to lead the group of qualified and passionate teachers at ISOP. I believe that our job, as educators, is not to prepare students for something. Our job is to help them prepare themselves for anything.”
