High School At ISOP Marks A Pivotal Chapter In A Student’s Educational Journey.
Students enter from our own Primary School or join us from other Polish or international schools. Placement in either HS0 or HS1 is based on English language readiness, ensuring each student begins with the right level of support. This stage is more than just academic, it is a time when students explore their identity, strengthen their voice, and begin to define their purpose. As they grow from adolescence into young adulthood, ISOP provides the guidance, challenge, and community they need to thrive intellectually, socially, and emotionally.
High School Preparatory Class (Optional)
The HS0 class is a one-year programme designed to support students in developing the English language skills and academic foundation needed for success in an English-medium high school. Alongside intensive English instruction, students engage with core subjects such as Polish, Math, Science, History, and PE, all taught by experienced teachers including those from our IB Diploma team in a supportive and immersive environment.
HS1 and HS2 – Foundation for the Diploma Programme
The first two years of High School, HS1 and HS2, are built on the Polish national curriculum and enriched with best practices from international education. Subjects are taught in English, with an emphasis on academic depth, personal development, and independent thinking.
Students who complete HS2 and meet internal requirements are eligible to enter the IB Diploma Programme. Throughout these first two HS years, students are guided to develop the self-management, research, and collaborative skills needed to succeed in the DP.

Integrated Learning Activities
Life at ISOP is about more than just academic grades. We prioritize Integrated Learning Activities that extend education beyond the classroom walls. The school year is anchored by our opening and closing ceremonies, which bring the entire community together to mark the beginning and end of our journey. Throughout the year, we also pause regular lessons for days dedicated to well-being, culture, and teamwork. These activities allow you to reset and explore interests outside the standard curriculum, from guest speakers and workshops to sports tournaments. These shared experiences are essential to our mission and help us celebrate the diversity of our student body.

White School – Ski Trip
White School is a cherished ISOP tradition, a winter journey that blends adventure with meaningful life experiences. Students embark on a 20-hour bus ride through Austria and Italy to reach the French Alps, where they ski, bond, and live together in apartments. They take charge of cooking, grocery shopping, and daily routines all while building independence, resilience, and lasting friendships along the way.
Preparation For IBDP
As students progress through High School, they gradually transition from a skills-based to a more content-driven learning approach, a crucial shift for success in the IB Diploma Programme. Through increased academic depth, subject specialization, and structured support, students are equipped with the knowledge, habits, and mindset needed to thrive in the rigor of DP. The focus is not just on what they learn, but how they manage, apply, and reflect on it.
Our High School Teachers
At ISOP, our High School teachers are more than subject experts. They are mentors, guides, and champions of student success. Many are long-standing IB educators, some having taught the Diploma Programme since 1997. As IB examiners and seasoned practitioners, they bring deep knowledge, global perspective, and a strong belief in each student’s potential. Their experience, dedication, and care help shape confident learners who are ready to thrive.

HS LEADERSHIP TEAM
ANDRZEJ MICHALCZYK
High School Principal
“I graduated from Adam Mickiewicz University with a degree in History. I am a veteran educator with 22 years experience as a teacher and 18 years as an IB examiner. Albert Einstein’s words: “I never teach my pupils. I only attempt to provide the conditions in which they can learn,” encompass my teaching philosophy.”
EWA ŁYSIAK
High School Vice Principal & DP Coordinator
“I believe that the concept of international mindedness ought to be a fundamental part of any modern-day education. However, it does not happen automatically by learning in a multicultural environment. There is a strong need for all of us to think of intercultural engagement with local and global issues so developing an internationally-minded attitude is at the heart of our program.”
