At ISOP, our Diploma Program (DP)  Serves as a Launchpad for Students to Excel in a Changing World

The International Baccalaureate® (IB) Diploma Programme is a globally respected, academically rigorous two-year programme that prepares students for success at top universities and in life beyond school. Research consistently shows that IB DP graduates are not only more likely to pursue higher education, but also to thrive once there.

The programme offers a comprehensive and balanced curriculum across six subject areas, while also providing the flexibility for students to tailor their learning to their individual strengths and interests. Through its emphasis on inquiry, reflection, and international mindedness, the IB DP empowers students to think critically, act ethically, and engage confidently with the world around them.

Understanding the IB DP Core and Subject Choices

The IB Diploma Programme includes six subject groups and the DP Core. Students choose one subject from each group, with three studied at Higher Level and three at Standard Level. The DP Core consists of Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay, and Creativity Activity Service. Together, these elements encourage critical thinking, independent research, and personal growth while maintaining a balanced academic programme tailored to each student’s interests and strengths.

Our Experienced Teachers

At ISOP, what sets us apart is the quality of our teachers. We have one of the most experienced IB teaching teams in Poland, with many educators who have taught the Diploma Programme for years and contributed as examiners or curriculum developers. Just as important, they care deeply about each student’s academic and personal growth. They invest time and attention into their teaching and take part in IB workshops to stay current and inspired. ISOP has offered the IB Diploma Programme since 2008, and our graduates go on to study at leading universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, Bocconi, MIT, Amsterdam, and Seoul National University. These outcomes reflect strong academic preparation and the individual support our teachers provide, creating an environment where students feel supported, challenged, and ready for their next steps.

Our Learning Environment

Students at ISOP benefit from a well-resourced, supportive academic setting designed to promote both independent inquiry and collaborative learning. Our facilities include fully equipped laboratories for chemistry, physics, and biology; a dedicated computer lab; a well-stocked library; and modern classrooms with interactive technology. We provide students with access to a range of high-quality digital tools, including Google Workspace for Education and JSTOR, a world-class digital library of academic journals, books, and primary sources. This access strengthens research skills, supports extended essays, and prepares students for university-level study.

Our Results

We are proud of our students’ strong results in the IB Diploma Programme, but we believe success goes beyond scores. At ISOP, we help students grow into confident, thoughtful individuals ready to take on academic and personal challenges. Alongside academic content, we build skills like research, time management, and resilience—essential for both university and life. We see the IB as a springboard for growth, not a finish line. Our goal is that each student graduates not only with strong results, but also with the mindset, values, and independence to thrive wherever they go next.

DP LEADERSHIP TEAM

ANDRZEJ MICHALCZYK

High School Principal

“I graduated from Adam Mickiewicz University with a degree in History. I am a veteran educator with 22 years experience as a teacher and 18 years as an IB examiner. Albert Einstein’s words: “I never teach my pupils. I only attempt to provide the conditions in which they can learn,” encompass my teaching philosophy.”

EWA ŁYSIAK

High School Vice Principal & DP Coordinator

“I believe that the concept of international mindedness ought to be a fundamental part of any modern-day education. However, it does not happen automatically by learning in a multicultural environment. There is a strong need for all of us to think of intercultural engagement with local and global issues so developing an internationally-minded attitude is at the heart of our program.”
